HISTORY 1913-2001
Berghoef Plants is a nursery with the most up to date equipment. The company was founded in 1913 in Aalsmeer by Willem Spaargaren, growing strawberries and buxus.
In 1948 Jacob Berghoef joined the company. They changed the name to ‘Spaargaren & Berghoef’, growing Kalanchoe and Cyclamen.
In 1968 Jacob Berghoef’s sons, Wim and Klaas, joined the company as well. In 1991 Wim Berghoef continued the company in Aalsmeer together with his wife, under the new name ‘Fa W.J. Berghoef & Co.’, growing Begonia Rex and Aphelandra Dania.
HISTORY 2002-PRESENT
At the end of 2002 Wim’s son Jaro Berghoef joined the company. They rented a nursery in Rijsenhout (6000m2), growing Begonia Rex.
In 2005 an existing nursery was bought, which was completely renovated.
